On Friday, April 12, 2024, the Department of Informatics & Security at FH St. Pölten hosted the highly anticipated Social Artificial Intelligence Night (SAINT) under the theme “AI (R)Evolution.” This event brought together a diverse group of community participants, including scientists, industry partners, students, and AI enthusiasts, to share experiences and insights.

Did you know that the roots of artificial intelligence date back to 1956? Many scientists agree that AI is not new, but the way it’s revolutionizing our digital businesses is astonishing. Una-May O'Reilly delivered a captivating keynote on "Adversarial Intelligence," a topic centered on the competitive dynamics between rivals. Her approach to automating the programming of adversarial cyber agents was particularly intriguing, as it involved genetic programming and co-evolutionary algorithms to reproduce arms races. Una-May's expertise offered valuable insights into the future of AI-driven competition.

Alessio Molinari's presentation on "That Metric Timeline" Python library showcased a game-changing tool for machine and deep learning practitioners. The library simplifies experiment tracking and code management, all while being fully open-source and offline-capable. Alessio's passion for Linux and open-source technologies shone through, providing attendees with a fresh perspective on AI research and development.

In his talk, Sindre Wimberger explored the transformative potential of AI, including concepts inspired by GenAI. His presentation delved into the innovative uses of AI as a personal assistant and its impact on redefining the limits of human knowledge. With almost 20 years of experience developing digital products and services, Sindre brought a wealth of knowledge to the stage.

The success of SAINT 2024 would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of the organizers, Dipl.-Ing. Sebastian Eresheim BSc, and FH-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Mag. Marlies Temper, who oversees the Data Science, Business Analytics & Data Intelligence programs at FH St. Pölten.
